Extension (themes) do not install

Postby kentaur » Fri Jun 27, 2014 9:03 pm

Hi, I am new to this great CMS. I am still wrestling with its basic functions, like adding pages and extensions. I uploaded the installation files of V3 to a server of a major, reputable hosting company using an expensive package. I have various CMS portals hosted here.

As to extensions, I downloaded two themes. I placed them unzipped into the following folders:

/razor/extension/theme/default-extra/
/razor/extension/theme/bootswatch-amelia/

They show up in the admin panel under Extensions, but I cannot get them installed (I assume here their showing in the list of Extensions do not mean they have been installed). Hitting Install Extensions results in the progress window coming up with endlessly spinning circular arrows with an error message:

"Failed to load category list".

Consequently, these themes do not show up with any of the pages when editing them.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Remove the extensions folder completely..... You do not need to manually install extensions.

Once you have removed the folder, click the overlay icon, go to extensions page, click the big blue button to install extensions.

All extensions should be loaded via the installer tool if you do not know what you are doing.

If you do want to manually install, simple download, unpack to desktop and copy the contents to the root location of your razorcms install. When you do this, ensure you merge folders when asked by your computer.

Thank you for your reply.

Following your instructions, I did the followings:

FOR ONE-CLICK INSTALLATION:
1. removed extensions folder from root
2. copied the downloaded theme file (zipped) to desktop
3. copied the downloaded theme file (zipped) to root
4. went to Admin panel
5. select Extensions
6. got error message "Failed to load category list"
7. hit Install Extensions button
8. got progress window with spinning arrows

FOR MANUAL INSTALLATION:

Creating the following file structure seem to have worked:

extension theme
handle (such as ‘razorcms’) themename (your theme name separated by hyphens)
images style view
(any image files used by any of the layouts) (any less and css files used by any of the layouts)
layoutname.php (your themes layout as detailed in manifest)
layoutname2.php (you may have multiple layouts) layoutname.manifest.json (Your first layouts manifest file) layoutname2.manifest.json (any other layout manifests)

Thank you again.

Hi,

You didn't follow my instructions and use the auto installer

FOR ONE-CLICK INSTALLATION:
1. removed extensions folder from root
2. copied the downloaded theme file (zipped) to desktop
3. copied the downloaded theme file (zipped) to root
4. went to Admin panel
5. select Extensions
6. got error message "Failed to load category list"
7. hit Install Extensions button
8. got progress window with spinning arrows

I didn't tell you to do all those steps for auto install..... why did you do them?

Please re-read the previous post, the recommended method for installation is auto installer. This tool does not require you to download anything.

I asked you to remove what you had there and use the auto installer. You should not be placing zip files anywhere, the system does not work on zip files, the auto installer unpacks them.

If you are having trouble with the auto installer, please take some screenshots, or better still a video.... but you do not have to download anything using this method.

1) Access extensions page in overlay
2) Click install button
3) Search and install extension
